"Dora Markus is a site specific show, conceived and created by the artist Felice Nittolo for Marina di Ravenna. In fact, it's no coincidence that it is inspired by the female figure celebrated by Eugenio Montale in his famous poem written between 1926 and 1936 and included in his anthology of poetry “The Occasions”. The itinerary suggested by the artist is placed in a course articulated by memory - the memory of water, of experiences, of his relationship with art, of aesthetic and poetic visions - through part of his most recent production, the series Traces and Mediterranean, up to the work that gives its name to the show and the large environmental installation in the last room of the gallery. It is a path of memories articulated through mosaic works, fascinating and persistent, which, in any case, do not restrict one's view only to mosaics but, as is Nittolo's habit, expand it to include video art and performance. Dora Markus is part of this rethinking and rethinking himself through art and mosaic, through a relationship that has been going on for years and has reached the point of becoming an authentic existential dimension, made up of adventure, curiosity, experimentations and courageous and fascinating inserts. As in the work dedicated to Dora Markus where the mingling of mosaic tiles with calligraphy and embellishments is surprising, or as in the large maternal environment where one enters the artist's world, inside a narration that is dreamlike but also material and organic, that penetrates the heart of the places; that embraces the reverberation, the odour, the sound. Dora Markus, beyond any local event narrates an archetype that is the sea, our sea but also others' seas. A sea that becomes a reverberation of mosaic tiles, traces on the shoreline, a precious light, a refuge where traces of memories are to be found and where one starts again, every day, to daydream."

"Dora Markus è una mostra che nasce site specific, appositamente progettata e pensata dall’artista Felice Nittolo per Marina di Ravenna: non è casuale infatti che sia ispirata alla figura femminile cantata da Eugenio Montale nella celebre poesia scritta tra il ’26 e il ’36 ed entrata nella raccolta “Le Occasioni”. L’itinerario suggerito dall’artista si colloca su un percorso scandito dalla memoria - memoria di acqua, di esperienze, di relazione con l’arte, di visioni estetiche e poetiche-, attraversa parte della produzione più recente – le serie Tracce e Mediterraneo  - e arriva all’opera che dà il titolo alla mostra e alla grande installazione ambientale dell’ultima sala della galleria.  È un sentiero di ricordi scanditi attraverso grandi opere musive, affascinanti e persistenti, che tuttavia non restringono lo sguardo soltanto sul mosaico, ma, com’è abitudine di Nittolo, lo ampliano sino a includere video arte e performance. Dora Markus rientra in questo ripensare e ripensarsi attraverso l’arte e il mosaico, attraverso una relazione che dura da anni ed è arrivata a diventare un’autentica dimensione esistenziale, fatta di avventura, curiosità, sperimentazioni e innesti coraggiosi e affascinanti. Come nel lavoro dedicato a Dora Markus dove sorprende l’ incontro tra grafia, ricamo e tessere o come nel grande ambiente materno nel quale si entra nel mondo dell’artista, dentro una narrazione onirica ma anche materica e organica che penetra nel cuore stesso dei luoghi; ne accoglie il riverbero, l’odore, il suono. Dora Markus, al di là di ogni caduta localistica, racconta un archetipo che è il mare, il nostro ma anche quello degli altri. Un mare che si fa riverbero di tessera, traccia sulla battigia, luce preziosa, rifugio nel quale ritrovare le tracce di memoria e dal quale ripartire ogni giorno per incantars".
